The Horrors 08.03.12 Alexandra Palace
Its rare I shoot or convert anything to black and white. Largely because to me its done alot and by many to cover large mistakes ‘if the image doesn’t work try it in black and white’. However from time to time I do like to throw something in there with it, but its very much shot dependant and I like to have the idea in my head from the start. Now on the first night down at Alexandra palace I was in the pit for The Horrors and for a change the support band to the headliner had incredibly cool lighting. So I decided to shoot straight into it for the big lens flare and contrast on the artist. For me this is what I wanted something more moody, yet stil retaining detail in some form in the artists face. Its not something which would be of much use in the printed press but its something which is different and will be nice to have in the portfolio.
