The VMM speaks to some of the world’s biggest DJ’s & Music Producers and Label owners of dance music to find out what 2011 has been like and check out who we should be looking out for in the World of Dance for 2012. VMM caught up with US DJ Suzy Solar to ask all about her YEAR OF DANCE 2011.
Interview:
VMMQ: Can you tell the VMM what moments from 2011 will you never forget?
Suzy: My favourite moments in 2011 were my gigs at “Yin Yan Pax” in Los Angeles, House of Blues in Orlando with Infected Mushroom, “PLUR” in Denver, and The Amphitheater in Tampa with Andy Moor. I had such a great time meeting everyone and hanging with my friends:)
VMMQ: Djing and clubbing around the globe can you tell the VMM what has been your favourite event or night of 2011?
Suzy: This year my favourite night happened to be in my home state of Florida. On June 18th, I played with Infected Mushroom at House of Blues in Orlando. The night had a certain magic about it that sticks with me still.
VMMQ: Can you tell the VMM what are your top 5 tracks from 2011?

VMMQ: We would like to know at the VMM what has been your favourite label for 2011?
Suzy: Armada is my pick for favourite label this year.
VMMQ: The VMM would like to know what has been your biggest achievement in 2011?
Suzy: This year, I’ve been working on 10 tracks, so my biggest achievements will be coming soon:) Two of the tracks are nearly ready, so be on the lookout!
VMMQ: The VMM would like to ask you who is your favourite newcomer that we should look out for in 2012?
Suzy: Last year I said Arty, and I’m picking him again this year for my favourite newcomer. He is really blowing up, and I can’t think of any other newcomer that grabs my attention like this.
VMMQ: Can you give the VMM your choice of artist of the year for 2011?
Suzy: My choice is Armin Van Buuren. He’s the man!
VMMQ: VMM would like to know what has been your funniest moment of 2011?
Suzy: Recently, my bf had to kick out a top 100 DJ from our house party. I won’t say who this DJ was, but he got really drunk and had some funny epic fail moments at my house! He did stuff like throw food everywhere, which got all over the floor, my dress, and my prized NIN memorabilia that Trent Reznor had given me. My bf told him stop throwing food, but he continued. Then he grabbed my bf and roughhoused with him, scuffing up my wall. My bf said “you need to leave right now!” Lol! The night was so bizarre, that it left my whole party feeling bewildered. It’s all good, though. Today we all look back on it and laugh our asses off:)
VMMQ: Can you tell the VMM where will you be New Years Eve 2011?
Suzy: I’m going to be in Calgary, Canada on New Year’s Eve. The venue info will be posted on my music page at facebook.com/djsuzysolar. I’m really excited to rock Calgary again!
VMMQ: 2011 is coming to a close so can you tell the VMM what do you have planned for the start of 2012?
Suzy: When I get back to the studio after my Canada NYE gig, I will be finishing up a vocal track and I will also be working on my own tracks.
VMMQ: Can you sum up in five words your Year of Dance 2011?
Suzy: Just another year in dance;)
