Kramnik - Ideal Club World Radio DJ

The VMM speaks to some of the world’s biggest DJ’s & Music Producers, Label owners, Artist Managers of dance music to find out what 2011 has been like and check out who we should be looking out for in the World of Dance for 2012.

VMM Speaks to the ideal Club World Radio DJ & Producer Kramnik about his year of dance 2011

Interview:

VMMQ: Can you tell the VMM what moments from 2011 will you never forget?

Kramnik: Since I’ve spent most of the year working on my album (out in Jan or Feb 2012), the type of moments I will never forget are mostly related to lost projects and crashing Macs…

VMMQ: Djing and clubbing around the globe can you tell the VMM what has been your favourite event or night of 2011?

Kramnik: Because of the studio work on the album, most of my gigs have been at home in Madrid. So I would have to pick the night at El Laboratorio in September. There’s something very underground about that place, which helps in playing darker stuff. Next year I hope to have some good international exposure as a result of signing with Ideal DJs. Very excited about that!

VMMQ: Can you tell the VMM what are your top 5 tracks from 2011?

Kramnik: I went to Mongolia this summer and came back with a track called ‘Mongolium.’ They do this waky throat singing over there and I have to mention it because I’ve never heard anything like it before. I also started my own label in 2011, Kram Records, and would have to mention the winners of a remix competition sponsored by LoopMasters. All those guys did a great job. The winners were Guido Prado, Cleric and Deconstructer for ‘Hyksos’, and David Londono, Medeew and MarTorq for ‘Viclone.’

VMMQ: We would like to know at the VMM what has been your favourite label for 2011?

Kramnik: Again, I have to mention Kram Records because I just set it up this year and my album will be coming out on it (as well as future EPs).

VMMQ: The VMM would like to know what has been your biggest achievement in 2011?

Kramnik: Without sounding too redundant, definitely the album because I started producing just under two years ago and it’s been a lot of work. There’s a very long learning curve with production, and I think this year I’ve made good progress on the technical side of things.

VMMQ: The VMM would like to ask you who is your favourite newcomer that we should look out for in 2012?

Kramnik: In appreciation to the winners of my remix comps this year, I have to mention Guido Prado and David Londono. I think they did a great job and should be mentioned.

VMMQ: Can you give the VMM your choice of artist of the year for 2011?

Kramnik: Even though he’s not new, I think Elon is very talented and very brave for trying different things. That’s what I’ve tried with my album, but this guy is quite a master at it.

VMMQ: VMM would like to know what has been your funniest moment of 2011?

Kramnik: This has to getting on the wrong train in Morocco…

VMMQ: Can you tell the VMM where will you be New Years Eve 2011?

Kramnik: In a tiny village in the middle of the mountains in a part of Spain called Aragón. Should be great for production!

VMMQ: 2011 is coming to a close so can you tell the VMM what do you have planned for the start of 2012?

Kramnik: Apart from releasing the album and the new ‘Kramnik 4.0’ EP (‘Flex’, ‘Harmuk’ and ‘Pangea’), I look forward to some slammin gigs with the help of Ideal DJs!

VMMQ: Can you sum up in five words your Year of Dance 2011?

Kramnik: Shops are going too commercial…

VMM wish you best of luck for all your music projects in 2012!
